Top 10 most watched of the week (sports): Ryder Cup rides into the top 10

Your 10 most watched programs of the week on Sling, sports edition, were as follows. Check after the list for a few quick thoughts on this week’s most watched live sports:

  1. NFL: Saints vs. Cowboys
  2. NFL: Packers vs. Bears
  3. NFL: Eagles vs. 49ers
  4. CFB: Tennessee vs. Georgia
  5. CFB: Florida State vs. North Carolina State
  6. NFL: Patriots vs. Chiefs
  7. NFL: Giants vs. Redskins
  8. Ryder Cup
  9. SportsCenter
  10. La Liga

(note: this post is coming a day later than usual, so the crazy events of Tuesday’s AL Wild Card game won’t be reflected in our data until next week’s list)

Just in case we forget that it is indeed fall, once again our list is full of Sling users who watch the NFL live on their phone, the NFL live on their tablet, or the NFL live online through our web-based or desktop players. Watching college football online is something Sling users like do as well. What else is there to say other than that?

Well, we’re getting our first sport other than football, soccer or tennis in a while this week, as enough people watched golf live online (or possibly having pre-recorded it) to land the Ryder Cup a spot on our top 10. The biennial battle to determine golfing supremacy between the U.S. and Europe happened from September 26-28 in the now-securely-ensconced-in-the-U.K. nation of Scotland. Many Sling users watched as Tom Watson failed to lead Team USA to victory against his European (Irish, to be specific) counterpart, Paul McGinley. And La Liga, the premier Spanish soccer league, continued an impressive run on the list.

We’ll be back next week with another set of top 10s!
