Top 10 most watched of the week (entertainment): American Horror Story gets its “Freak” on

Your 10 most watched programs of the week on Slingbox, non-sports edition, were as follows. Check after the list for a few quick thoughts on this week’s most watched home entertainment:

  1. The Big Bang Theory
  2. Sons of Anarchy
  3. American Horror Story: Freak Show
  4. The Voice
  5. Today
  6. Grey’s Anatomy
  7. NCIS
  8. The Young and the Restless
  9. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
  10. Modern Family

The most noticeable new entrant on our list this week was FX’s horror anthology American Horror Story, which kicked off its fourth installment, subtitled Freak Show. Enough Sling users watched American Horror Story online for it to vault all the way to No. 3 on the top 10. You could watch American Horror Story live on your tablet, lying in bed, with the lights off, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it — better to watch in a safe, well-lighted space!

The biggest upset of this week would have be the fact that The Walking Dead didn’t crack our top 10. The most-watched drama show in basic cable history premiered its fifth season with the most-watched episode ever on standard TV, but it only reached No. 12 on our list. We know that plenty of people watch The Walking Dead live online with Slingbox, but not quite enough to get on the top 10, surprisingly. Perhaps Slingbox’s feature allowing you to watch pre-recorded shows will bump up numbers for the premiere into the next week, since the airing did occur on a Sunday (the last day of our sample). We’ll be back with our sports top 10 tomorrow.
