Top 10 most watched of the week (sports): Thanks to Game 7, baseball’s on top again

Your 10 most watched programs of the week on Slingbox, sports edition, were as follows. Check after the list for a few quick thoughts on this week’s most watched live sports:

  1. MLB World Series: Giants vs. Royals
  2. NFL: Broncos vs. Patriots
  3. SportsCenter
  4. NFL: Colts vs. Giants
  5. NFL: Cardinals vs. Cowboys
  6. NFL: Ravens vs. Steelers
  7. NFL: Saints vs. Panthers
  8. Liga MX soccer
  9. CFB: Florida State vs. Louisville
  10. NBA: Knicks vs. Cavaliers

Game 7: It’s one of the most exciting phrases in sports, and with MLB’s World Series going the distance, enough people were watching baseball live to push the Fall Classic to the top for the second week in a row. It’s especially impressive since, unlike last week’s sample which captured five World Series games, this week’s consisted of only Games 6 and 7. Slingbox may let you watch local news anywhere, even internationally, but Giants fans probably didn’t need that this time as their team’s third championship in five years became worldwide news.

Of course, just because the No. 1 spot was occupied doesn’t mean football didn’t make its presence felt on the list, as it always does. Plenty of Slingbox users were still watching the NFL on laptops, watching the NFL on tablets and watching the NFL on phones. The most popular game of the week was the showdown in Foxborough between AFC powers Denver and New England, which ended in a 43-21 Patriots rout.

We also saw our first NBA action of the year on the list. Enough Slingbox users were watching basketball live online to propel the New York-Cleveland matchup, which was LeBron James’ first game back with the Cavaliers, onto the top 10. Unfortunately for Bron and Cleveland, the Knicks spoiled the homecoming by winning 95-90.

We’ll be back next week with another set of top 10s.
