Slingbox M1 wins Fierce Innovation Award!

FIERCE-456The publishers of Fierce Wireless, Fierce Telecom and Fierce Cable give out the Fierce Innovation Awards, which honor the best technology solutions introduced in the previous year, annually. The winners of the Telecom edition of the Awards were announced on Wednesday and we’re very happy to announce that our Slingbox M1 was the winner in the “Set-Top Boxes & Related Devices” category!

This certainly isn’t the first award Slingbox has won — past highlights have included a Technology & Engineering Emmy, a Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt Museum product design award, and Engadget’s “Home Entertainment Device of the Year” — but we’re ecstatic that the M1 is being recognized in this way. Thanks to the Fierce Innovation Awards for the honor!

I will never buy or recommend sling box. This is the second one I have and never again will I get another. It is a piece of junk. I have problems connecting all the time and their support is the worst.

We are residents of Massachusetts, and of course Boston Red Sox fans. We are Verizon FIOS customers with 3 cable boxes in our home, and after seeing a Slingbox advertised on the Verizon web site, purchased a Slingbox500 yesterday to watch the Red Sox games at our ‘away’ cabin which has WiFi internet connection. We are VERY DISSAPOINTED TO LEARN TODAY THAT, CONTRARY TO THE ADVERTISEMENT, VERIZON FIOS DOES NOT SUPPORT SLINGBOX. We learned this after a failed installation, followed by an hour and a half of phone calls with both Verizon technical service and customer service, who said, and I quote “Verizon does not support Slingbox”. What’s up with this ?
