Top 10 most watched of the week (sports): NHL Playoffs heat up on Slingbox

Ducks Blackhawks Hockey-1

Your 10 most watched programs of the week on Slingbox, sports edition, were as follows. Check after the list for a few quick thoughts on this week’s most watched sports:

1. NBA Playoffs: Rockets vs. Warriors
2. Liga MX soccer
3. Women’s College World Series
4. Nascar: Fedex 400
5. Copa del Rey soccer
6. French Open tennis
7. NHL Playoffs: Blackhawks vs. Ducks
8. PGA Tour: AT&T Byron Nelson
9. FIFA U20 World Cup
10. NHL Playoffs: Lightning vs. Rangers

The road to the Stanley Cup has finally reached the Finals, and the last stop before the ultimate round raised hockey’s profile on Slingbox last week. For the first time in recent memory there were two separate hockey entrants on the list: the Western Conference Finals between Anaheim and Chicago, and the Eastern Conference Finals between the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay. We’ll have to see just how many Slingbox users are going to watch the Stanley Cup on their phones, tablets and laptops when the Finals get started this week.

Another interesting entrant to the list was FIFA’s U20 World Cup, which is currently taking place in New Zealand. The FIFA corruption scandal apparently hasn’t dimmed Slingbox users’ desire to watch footballers under the age of 20 do their thing for their national teams. Nor will it likely prevent Slingbox users from watching the Women’s World Cup, which begins this week as well. The Women’s College World Series of softball had another impressive showing on the top 10, while the Western Conference Finals matchup that saw Golden State defeat Houston was, unsurprisingly, No. 1.

We’ll be back next week with another set of top 10s.

We are residents of Massachusetts, and of course Boston Red Sox fans. We are Verizon FIOS customers with 3 cable boxes in our home, and after seeing a Slingbox advertised on the Verizon web site, purchased a Slingbox500 yesterday to watch the Red Sox games at our ‘away’ cabin which has WiFi internet connection. We are VERY DISSAPOINTED TO LEARN TODAY THAT, CONTRARY TO THE ADVERTISEMENT, VERIZON FIOS DOES NOT SUPPORT SLINGBOX. We learned this after a failed installation, followed by an hour and a half of phone calls with both Verizon technical service and customer service, who said, and I quote “Verizon does not support Slingbox”. What’s up with this ?
