The 2015 U.S. Open Golf Championship dominated the top 10 most watched sports program this past week. This year’s championship has been very competitive and even historical. For the first time in 93 years, the U.S. Open was won by the youngest golfer, Jordan Spieth. Spieth, who is only 21 years old, won his first U.S. Open one stroke ahead of Dustin Johnson and Louis Oosthuizen. Spieth passed Tiger Woods as the youngest player to win both the Masters and the U.S. Open in the same year.
Regarding the other top 10 sports programs that were watched, The 2015 Copa America was a close second. Soccer (or football) is extremely popular around the world and among Slingbox viewers. The Copa America is the main international football tournament for national teams in South America. The defending champs, Uruguay, will do their best to continue to keep the title. Surprisingly, the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup has dropped 3 spots on our list. As the competition heats up, it is interesting to see that Copa America is more popular than the Women’s World Cup. The women’s U.S. team is a strong competitor this year, and is the favorites to win. The U.S. team will play in the quarter finals against China on Friday June 26th. Unfortunately, key players, Megan Rapinoe and Lauren Holiday, are set to miss the game on Friday due to receiving their second yellow card in the game against Colombia.
We’ll be back next week with another set of top 10s.
