Options are endless with the Slingplayer app

As some of you may have heard, we made a few changes to our Slingplayer app since the launch of the M2. In order to support our free app platform, we have seamlessly integrated ads in a way that does not disrupt your viewing experience. However, we know change is never easy so we are doing everything we can to make this transition as seamless as possible.

With that in mind, we are excited to announce we have decided to continue to offer both the paid and free versions of our Slingplayer app. This means you can choose to download the free app or opt out of advertisements for just $15, since we know everyone likes to have options.

With that said, we highly recommend downloading the new free app! It has great new features and you’ll enjoy automatic updates down the road. Another bonus, if you are a current customer who previously purchased the Slingplayer app we’ve got you covered. Starting Oct. 1, we will automatically disable advertisements from your viewing experience when you download the new version of the app – as long as you use the same email address as you did in your original purchase.

We want to provide everyone with the best TV Anywhere experience possible and are happy we can offer solutions that fit your viewing preferences!

And what about all of us that have already paid $15 for an app? Often multiple times on different devices? We have to buy a new app again to avoid annoying ads?

  2. Darren says:

You can’t call options endless when some Slingbox’s aren’t allowed to work with Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV even on paid version.

Have the Slingbox 350. I’m having an issue using the slingbox app (iphone 5) with chromecast. It only works if both the slingbox and chromecast are on the same wifi signal. I understand both the iphone and the chromecast have to be on the same wifi network, but the slingbox too??? Anyone else having this issue?
